Facts Distillery

Facts Distillery

Four engineers, a helicopter pilot, a doctor, a cook, a teacher and a butcher go to a bar together. Sounds like the beginning of a joke?

Well it's actually not in that case;)

Here it describes the prelude of a distillery startup.

But from the beginning:

It all started in 2005 with a radio show about distilleries in Scotland.

It is said that it is basically quite easy to distill whisky. The tricky part is that it also tastes good.

Martin, one of the later founders of the Stauning distillery, heard this radio program and wondered why no one had tried it in his home country.

So he rounded up 13 family members and friends - in the end, nine got involved in the adventure - see the supposed joke beginning above, of producing the first Danish whisky.

One of them is Alex Munch, who still works for the distillery today.

Diageo has held a 40 percent stake in Stauning Whisky since 2015.

Tasting notes

👃🏼Scent: so-such pancakes with maple syrup, that typical maple syrup smell, including the slight mustiness, comes through super. I get directly hungry

But also something floral and fresh comes through, light vanilla notes and also something herbal as well as a slight sourdough note, alcohol you do not notice

👄Taste: Alcohol super integrated, nice mouthfeel, creamy and oily and YES you can taste the maple syrup, tart notes come through again, which make the whole whiskey fortunately not too sweet, vanilla notes, slightly earthy note

🥅Finish: nice and long lasting, latte note, also here the sweetness from the maple syrup, but now also nice wood notes come out

💧 adding Water: more of the herbaceous (similar to the Schnapps), tart, maple syrup fades into the background, my recommendation would be without water

Conclusion

I celebrate the whiskey because it's really something different and I personally find it super tasty and fortunately not too sweet.
It's my personal highlight go 2021 :)
You can drink it well and always discover something new.

75€ are totally fine for me :)
