Facts Distillery

- bis mindestens 1850 wurde illegal auf der kleinen Insel Raasay  Whisky gebrannt,

- die 2016 erbaute Isle of Raasay Distillery ist die erste offizielle Brennerei der Insel

-Raasay Distillery ist Teil der R&B Distillers Limited, die von Alasdair Day und Bill Dobbie 2014 gegründet wurde

-2016 erhielten sie eine Baugenehmigung für die Brennerei und bereits im September 2017 floss der erste Newmake

Facts Whisky

-        “lightly peated”

-       3 verschiedene Fassarten: ex Rye Casks, Chinkapin Eiche und Bordeaux Rotweinfässern

-       46,4%

-       Nicht gefärbt

-       Nicht kühlgefiltert

 Tasting notes

👃🏼Geruch: Leichter Torf, Meersbrise, Seetang, aber dann auch Nüsse und Brombeeren und Backpflaumen

👄Geschmack: schöner komplexer Antritt von Brombeeren und Kirschen, Torf dezent im Hintergrund, Meersalz, wieder schöne nussige Noten, Waldhonig, geröstete Kaffeebohnen mit dunkler Schokolade

🥅Abgang: medium, Holzwürze und Nuss, espresso

Fazit

Für mich ein schöner Single Malt. Ich hoffe, dass vielleicht ja sogar noch einer kommt, der mehr Torf bekommt ;)

Facts Distillery

- whisky was distilled illegally on the small island of Raasay until at least 1850,

but the Isle of Raasay Distillery, built in 2016, is the first official distillery on the island

-Raasay Distillery is part of R&B Distillers Limited, which was founded by Alasdair Day and Bill Dobbie in 2014

-In 2016, they received a building permit for the distillery and by September 2017, the first newmake was flowing

- 46,4%

- Not colored

- Not chill filtered

Tasting notes

👃🏼Scent: Light peat, sea breeze, seaweed, but then also nuts and blackberries and prunes

👄Taste: nice start of blackberries and cherries, peat discreetly in the background, sea salt, again nice nutty notes, forest honey, roasted coffee beans with dark chocolate

🥅Finish: medium, wood spice and nut, espresso

Conclusion

For me, a nice single malt. I hope that maybe even still comes one that gets more peat ;)
